How to Make a Wrap Out of a Mink Coat

A full-length fur coat can look very outdated; ditch it for a chic mink wrap.

Things You will Need

Scissors

Tape measure

Needle

Thread

Broach (optional)

Lay the coat open on a table or other flat surface.

Cut the coat horizontally, 25 inches from the hem of the coat. You will now have a rectangle piece of fur.

Fold the edge of the lining inward toward the inside of the fur 1 inch. Fold the fur 1 inch inside the fur, matching the folded edge of the lining up with the folded edge of the fur.

Use the needle and thread to create a zigzag stitch between the lining and the fur. Insert the needle into the top edge of the lining fold on the left edge of the wrap. Insert the needle into the top edge of the fur fold, 1/2 inch to the right of the first stitch. Turn the needle around and insert it back into the top edge of the lining fold, 1/2 inch to the right of the previous stitch. Continue to sew until the lining is sewn completely to the fur.

Put the wrap over your shoulders, and secure with a broach, if desired.

Hem the top cut portion of the jacket according to Step 4, if desired, and wear the cropped mink jacket.
